Dear Friends,
Heartbeat of Miami, a special initiative to establish 3-5 pregnancy centers in the neediest neighborhoods of Miami, has now assembled their first Development Committee and targeted the Hialeah neighborhood for Heartbeat's first center. We praise God for this team of talented and hard working women. We need this team to grow, and we especially would like to see some men join this committee. If interested please contact either of our co-chairmen, Christina Varghese (cvarghese@solambitlaw.com) or Jenette Mathai (jmathai@solambitlaw.com)
The first step toward opening our first Pregnancy Clinic is to present the vision and mission to all the churches in and around Hialeah; and to raise up 300 Monthly Heartbeat Partners willing to pray for this ministry and sacrifice $1 a day or $30 a month to support this Great Work long term.
Hialeah was chosen in large measure because of the infestation of abortion facilities concentrated in this one neighborhood (View map). It has seven facilities, exploiting the fears and difficult circumstances of women in unplanned pregnancies.
Make that six. In July, as we started to assemble a Development Committee, God providentially exposed the heart-wrenching cruelty, greed and truly murderous spirit of the abortion business in that very neighborhood. It has gotten nation-wide coverage.
According to World Magazine, an 18 year old mother gave birth to a 23 week old baby in the waiting room of an abortion facility in Hialeah. They report, "The girl delivered her baby, alive, moving, and trying to breathe. Clinic worker Belkis Gonzalez then allegedly cut the umbilical cord, stuffed the wriggling, gasping baby into a biohazard bag, and sealed the bag shut." (Source: World Magazine)
Police suspect someone working inside the facility tipped them off. Upon arrival however, they did not find a baby. A week later another tip came in and this time the baby was found, badly decomposed in a biohazard trash bag. The medical examiner confirmed that the baby was born alive.
One of our volunteers for the Hialeah Development Committee went down to this facility (one of 37 abortion facilities in Miami!) to take a picture. While she was there, two young girls showed up. One was pregnant and they were looking for help. She called me and said, "I had never been to an abortion facility before and I didn't know what to say to them. I prayed, and I told them what had just happened there and then I struggled with what to say next." She drove home thinking, "We have got to get this Heartbeat of Miami clinic open!"
We do not need a special sign from God to answer the call to save innocent life. We have Proverbs 24:11-22: "Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter." But Providence also seems to be urging us forward, dramatically exposing the evil of abortion in Miami, in the Hialeah neighborhood. Will you join us in praying and giving toward this urgent need?
Please pass this update on to those you think might join you in supporting our effort. Feel free to contact me with your ideas about how to get the word out to churches and other Christian circles. We are of course urging you to be one of the 300 Monthly Heartbeat Partners we need to sustain this center. The sooner we know that God's people are with us and ready to help carry the burden of these mothers and babies, the sooner we will start site preparations and volunteer trainings.
Urging God in prayer and urging His people to give,
